Massachusetts General Hospital, the state’s second-largest, was among the worst-ranked hospitals nationwide.
The hospital ranked No. 18 on the 2017 rankings.
The average wait time for admission in its emergency department was just two hours.
The state spent $2.8 million on the hospital’s emergency room over a five-year period.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology also ranked No: 11 in its 2017 rankings for its emergency room, where it spent more than $8.2 million.
But the state also spent more on care at the hospital than any other in the country.
