3 children hospitalized at New Hampshire Children’s Mercy Hospital

NEW HAVEN, N.H. — Three children were hospitalized at a New Hampshire children’s hospital Monday after they were found in an apparent suicide attempt, police said.

The children were discovered by an officer outside the New Hampshire Hospital for Children on the New England coast Monday afternoon after someone called 911 reporting an apparent attempt to commit suicide, according to a police statement.

Officers responding to the 911 call discovered the children, ages 2, 6 and 11, inside the children’s emergency room.

The officers and the child’s mother were able to locate the children and bring them to a local hospital, where the mother was taken into custody.

The hospital issued a statement Monday saying the children were in stable condition and were recovering from the incident.

New Hampshire Childrens Mercy Hospital released a statement on Monday saying they are grateful for the efforts of the New Jersey State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office to keep children safe during this difficult time.

The facility is grateful for all the attention, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families, staff, and all of those who have lost loved ones in this tragic event.
