A man has died after falling from a roof at a hospital in Melbourne’s north-east.
Emergency services were called to St James Hospital at 5:30pm (AEDT) after the man fell from a rooftop and into the hospital’s emergency department.
Emergency Services spokesperson Mark Ritchie said a patient had fallen from the roof and suffered life-threatening injuries.
“The patient was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died in the emergency department a short time later,” he said.
“He was not the only patient to fall from a tall building at the hospital, as another man died a short while later at St James.”
Mr Ritchie urged the public to keep a close eye on their surroundings.
“If you see a person hanging from a building, or a person who may be in distress or in distress on a roof, please call the police,” he added.
“It’s always important to be mindful of what you see and to be aware of what is going on around you.”
