Paoli Hospital in Pune has hired 10 nurses and two social workers to work at its hospitals in the capital.
The hospital said the new hires are part of the new care and service plan and are part-time.
“These new nurses are part time nurses working full-time, while the social workers are parttime.
They are part and parcel of the Pune healthcare infrastructure,” the hospital said in a statement on Monday.
The announcement comes after a national health crisis in India.
The country recorded a total of 5.1 million deaths last year, a steep rise from the 5.0 million deaths in 2014.
According to the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, India has the world’s highest death rate for women aged between 15 and 64.
